Everything We Do,In One Office

General dentistry on the days most offices are closed. Exams and cleanings through implants and full arch work, all at 8018 Clairemont Mesa Blvd on Fridays and Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Where To Start

Start With WhatIs Bothering You

Most people arrive with one thing on their mind. A tooth that aches, a filling that fell out, a denture that has never fit right. That is the right place to start, and it is where we start too.

But the tooth that brought you in is often a symptom of something happening elsewhere, which is why the first visit looks at everything rather than just the one you pointed at. Whatever we find, you will see it on the screen and hear what your options actually are before anything gets scheduled.

PreventiveCare

Exams and Cleanings

Every visit starts with a full exam, because we are not going to clean teeth we have not looked at yet. Teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissue. Then the cleaning. If what we find calls for something deeper than a routine cleaning, Dr. Cortes tells you in the chair and gives you the cost before anything starts.

Prevention

Most of what goes wrong in a mouth is cheaper and easier to handle early. Fluoride strengthens enamel against decay. Sealants close the grooves in back teeth where bacteria collect. An oral cancer screening is part of every exam here, not an extra, because catching it early is the whole difference.

X-rays and 3D Imaging

A visual exam shows the surface. X-rays show what is between and beneath it: decay starting between teeth, infection at a root tip, bone loss you cannot feel yet. Our unit captures both panoramic X-rays and 3D CBCT scans, so you are not sent to another office to get imaged.

Repair AndRestoration

Fillings

When decay is caught early, the repair is small. We use tooth colored composite, so the filling is not obvious when you talk or laugh, and there is no metal involved. The sooner a cavity is found, the less tooth has to come out to treat it.

Crowns

When a tooth is too damaged or too heavily filled to hold a filling, a crown covers and protects what is left. Your crown is made in a dental lab and fitted at a follow up visit.

Root Canals

When decay or a crack reaches the nerve, the pain does not go away on its own. A root canal removes the infected tissue, cleans and seals the inside of the tooth, and lets you keep the tooth instead of losing it. Dr. Cortes performs root canals here on Fridays and Saturdays.

Extractions

Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved, and holding onto it costs you bone and comfort. We remove teeth here. If your case is complex, Dr. Cortes will tell you and refer you.

Replacing MissingTeeth

Dental Implants

An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a titanium post that fuses to your jawbone. It does not require cutting down the healthy teeth on either side, and unlike a denture it helps preserve the bone that otherwise shrinks away once a tooth is gone. Our CBCT scanner is what makes accurate placement possible.

Implant Crowns

The implant is the foundation. The implant crown is the tooth that goes on top of it, shaped and shaded to match what sits beside it. We place the implant and restore it in the same office, so you are not coordinating between two practices or repeating your history twice.

Bridges

A bridge fills a gap by anchoring a replacement tooth to the teeth on either side. It is fixed in place rather than removable, and it is a reasonable option when an implant is not the right plan for your bone, your health history, or your budget.

Dentures

A full denture replaces an entire arch of teeth. Every one is made to your measurements. Most of the time we deliver a denture in two or three appointments, and every patient is scheduled for a check one week later.

Partial Dentures

When you still have healthy teeth, a partial fills only the gaps and clasps onto what is already there. It is removable, it keeps the teeth you still have from drifting into the space, and it is usually the least invasive way to replace several missing teeth at once.

Implant Retained Dentures

A conventional lower denture moves. An implant retained denture clips onto two or more implants, so it stays where you put it. Most patients describe the difference in terms of food: things they had quietly stopped ordering come back onto the menu.

All on X and Hybrid Dentures

A full arch of fixed teeth supported by implants. It does not come out at night and it is cleaned like natural teeth. This is planned, staged treatment, and Dr. Cortes will walk you through the imaging, the sequence, and the cost before anything is scheduled.

Alignment AndUrgent Care

Invisalign

A treatment plan built around your teeth, straightening them without metal brackets or wires. The aligners stay in while you eat and come out afterward to clean, and most people you deal with day to day will not notice you are wearing them.

Emergency Visits, Fridays and Saturdays

If you are in pain on a Friday or Saturday, text us and come in. Send a photo of the tooth and Dr. Cortes can often tell you what he is looking at before you arrive. Hurting earlier in the week? Our sister office in Mira Mesa can usually get you in, and Dr. Cortes is the dentist there too.

Botox for TMJ and Clenching

Botox administered into the jaw muscles to reduce the force of clenching and grinding. The jaw still works normally for eating and talking. What it cannot do any more is clench at full strength for hours while you sleep.
