04. Removing the decay. Only the damaged part comes out. The healthy tooth stays.
05. The filling. Composite resin, shaded to match the tooth, placed in layers and hardened. Your bite is checked before you leave.
When A FillingIs Not Enough
A filling works when there is enough healthy tooth left to hold it. When decay is extensive, or the tooth already carries a large old restoration, a filling will not hold and a crown is the honest answer.
